The Mileage Log in DetailerMade provides a straightforward way to track and document all business-related travel for your mobile detailing operation. Designed with the specific needs of on-the-go detailers in mind, this feature helps you maintain accurate records of miles driven between job sites, client locations, and your home base.

For mobile detailing businesses, vehicle expenses represent one of the largest operational costs and most significant tax deduction opportunities. DetailerMade's Mileage Log transforms what was once a tedious tracking process into a simple, integrated part of your workflow—ensuring you capture miles driven between jobs.

Key Capabilities

  • Structured Route Tracking - Create routes to organize your business travel, with each route containing information about the employee, assigned team, date, and optional notes.

  • Detailed Trip Documentation - Within each route, log individual trips including origin address and destination address, we'll calculate the miles between the two for you.

  • Team and Employee Assignment - Associate routes with specific employees or teams, perfect for businesses with multiple mobile units tracking their own travel independently.

  • Notes Field for Context - Add explanatory notes to routes for special circumstances or additional context that might be relevant during tax preparation or audit situations.

  • Historical Record Keeping - Maintain a history of all business travel, organized by date, employee, and team for easy reporting and analysis.

Coming Soon: Automated Mileage Tracking

We're excited to announce that automatic mileage tracking is coming soon to DetailerMade! This upcoming enhancement will:

  • Automatically generate route estimates based on your completed jobs
  • Create logical trip segments between job locations:
    • Business address → First job location
    • Between sequential job locations
    • Final job location → Business address
  • Calculate estimated mileage for each trip segment
  • Allow manual adjustments to auto-generated routes when needed

While these automated estimates won't be 100% precise (they won't account for detours or personal stops), they'll provide a much more accurate picture of your business mileage than manual tracking alone—especially on busy days when logging miles might slip your mind.

Real-World Benefits

The Mileage Log delivers tangible financial benefits for mobile detailing operations:

Beyond tax benefits, the mileage data helps business owners understand the true costs of servicing different geographic areas. This insight allows for more strategic pricing decisions and service area planning, potentially improving profitability across your operation.

For growing businesses with multiple teams, the employee and team assignment features provide accountability and help identify efficiency opportunities in travel patterns and job scheduling.
